Get to know Katelynn in the interview below, where she shares more about her career, the most important thing she’s learned, what she hopes to learn from the Kindred community, and more.

Kindred: What’s something you know so well that you could teach anyone?

Katelynn Whitaker: From a men’s health perspective, I could teach anyone the ALEC method and how to have a meaningful conversation about mental health and wellbeing. From a physical health perspective, I could teach anyone a workout class. During the pandemic, I received my group fitness instructor certification and have been teaching weekly classes on Zoom. I absolutely love it.

K: What’s one thing you want to learn from others in the Kindred community?

KW: Learning and growing from the Kindred community has been such a gift. My favorite part is the connections. It’s a dynamic group with different experiences and expertise—you never know who you will meet or what you will learn from them. It’s wonderful to be part of an organization with so many people dedicated to making positive change in our society. Connecting with individuals from different backgrounds and industries with a common goal to leave the world better than we found it is inspiring.

K: What’s the most impactful project you’ve had a chance to work on?

KW: Wow, I’ve been part of so many impactful moments, partnerships, and events during my time at Movember. Every single day we work to change the face of men’s health. But I would say the most impactful thing is the hundreds of thousands of men in the US alone who have engaged with Movember. Think about that reach and scale. People are out there being vulnerable, sharing why they participate in Movember and asking their friends and family to support their efforts. I have had countless conversations with cancer survivors, people who have lost loved ones, people who just love moustaches. These passionate Mo community members make Movember unique and progress us all towards a world where men live happier, healthier, longer lives.

K:  What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in your career?

KW: It really is all about the people. Helping others, connecting with people, inspiring them. It’s about providing remarkable experiences to our staff, partners, and Movember community. When you work for a brand, a startup, or a nonprofit, you are a representative of the organization, and you want everyone to be left a little better, more informed, more inspired because they met you.
